Woodson and Asclepias vestita Hook. & Arn. subsp. vestita (as well as the corresponding varieties) are not to be recognized: For our pls, _Asclepias vestita Hook. & Arn. var. vestita_ (cream corollas; dry plains, low hills; GV, CW) and _Asclepias vestita Hook. & Arn. var. parishii_ Jeps. (purple corollas; brushy flats, hillsides, desert canyons; CW, TR, DMoj) have been recognized elsewhere, but there is considerable intergradation morphologically, which even Woodson (p. 149), in elevating the vars. to subspp., allowed could be environmental rather than genetic, so that infraspecific taxa in this species are not recognized here. | |||||
