Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 5 Jun 2003 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that the taxon involved, as treated in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], is a w N. Am. plant; Rydberg, in North American Flora 22(3):255--256 (1908), had published Aruncus acuminatus for the w N. Am. plant, and Aruncus pubescens for the e N. Am. plant; Hara (J. Jap. Bot. 30:68. 1955) published Aruncus dioicus var. acuminatus for the w N. Am. plant and Aruncus dioicus var. pubescens for the e N. Am. plant, so that Aruncus dioicus (Walter) Fernald var. pubescens (Rydb.) Fernald has been misapplied to plants in CA.
