| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates: that David Thompson (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] author), in Systematic Botany Monographs 22:109 (1988) and in the draft of his The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] account, treated Neogaerrhinum strictum as a synonym of Antirrhinum kelloggii; that Neogaerrhinum strictum (Hook. & Arn.) Rothm. (Feddes Repertorium Specierum Novarum Regni Vegetabilis 52:31. 1943) was based on Maurandya stricta (The Botany of Captain Beechey's Voyage 375. 1839); that the combination Antirrhinum strictum (1827) was already in use for a European plant, thus making Gray's combination Antirrhinum strictum (1868) an illegitimate later homonym; and that Antirrhinum kelloggii Greene (Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 10:126. 1883) was the next available name for the taxon in the genus Antirrhinum. | |||||
