Jepson Flora Project: Jepson Interchange for California Floristics
Antennaria dioica (L.) Gaertn.
ASTERACEAE
Initial Editorial Analysis 11 Jun 2001
Source of Report for California
a 1998 Madrono, as cited in Kartesz & Meacham
b Preston e-mail of 5 Jul 2000, "occurs in CA. Granite fell fields; s SNH (Inyo Co.); circumboreal; Chmielewski, J. G. 1998. Antennaria dioica (Asteraceae: Inuleae): addition to the vascular flora of California. Madroño 45:271-272"
Initial Editorial Comments not treated in Munz, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]; indicated only for CA, rare in AK in Kartesz & Meacham; R. J. Bayer, co-author of Antennaria for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], has indicated (Madrono 46(4):205-207. 1999) that recent reports (Chmielewski, Madrono 45:271-272. 1998) of Antennaria dioica from California are erroneous, that the material cited actually represents atypical individuals of Antennaria media, and that Antennaria dioica actually is mainly Eurasian, with a few populations in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska
