U.S. Mex. Bound., Bot. 126 (1859); that Torrey ascribed the name to "Gray in Sill. Jour." but provided his own Latin description; and that Torrey's reference to Gray (A. Gray in Authors of Plant Names) (American Journal of Science II 16:98. 1854), was to a name lacking a description and therefore a nom nud. [Therefore, author citation of The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym corrected and expanded to Lippia wrightii A. Gray ex Torr., and that although Abrams ascribed the combination to Heller (A. Heller in Authors of Plant Names) in Muhlenbergia 1:147 (1906), Heller in fact provided neither a reference to Torrey's basionym nor a description, and Abrams gave the correct reference to basionym.
