Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis 27 May 2011
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 25 Aug 2008 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Barkworth based Achnatherum occidentale (Phytologia 74(1): 10. 1993) on Stipa occidentalis, published in S. Watson, United States Geological Exploration of the Fortieth Parallel. Botany 380 (1871), and that Watson ascribed the name to "Thurb., Ms in Bol. Coll." but provided his own description. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Achnatherum occidentale (Thurb. ex S. Watson) Barkworth, from Achnatherum occidentale (Thurb.) Barkworth previously in this Index, 10 Sep 2008.]
