| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that Acamptopappus sphaerocephalus was published by A. Gray in Proceedings of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences 8:634. 1873, based on Haplopappus sphaerocephalus, published by A. Gray in Memoirs of the American Academy of Arts and Science, new series 4(1):76. 1849 (Plantae Fendlerianae), wherein Gray ascribed the name Haplopappus sphaerocephalus to "Harv. & Gray" (Harv. & A. Gray in Authors of Plant Names). [Article 46.2 of ICBN (2000) requires acceptance of the authors as ascribed (Harv. & A. Gray in Authors of Plant Names) since A. Gray is one of the ascribed authors and the article states "...authorship of a new name or combination must always be accepted as ascribed, even when it differs from authorship of the publication, when at least one author is common to both."
