Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 1 Nov 2007 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates: that Abies bracteata was first published by Antoine Poiteau (A. Poit. in Authors of Plant Names) in Revue Horticole 4:7 (1845); that publication by Nuttall (The North American Sylva 3: 137. 1849) was later and therefore superfluous; and that Poiteau wrote "A. bracteata. Don.", with Don in upper and lower case, a typographical distinction, differing from Poiteau's form for author citations (all large and small caps.), that can be taken to be his indirect indication of the basionym, Pinus bracteata D. Don (Transactions of the Linnean Society of London 17: 443. 1836). [Therefore, author citation corrected to Abies bracteata (D. Don) A. Poit., from Abies bracteata (D. Don) Nutt. previously in this Index, 8 Nov 2007.]
