Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments author citation uncertain, Abies amabilis Douglas ex J. Forbes in Flora North America
Editorial Recommendation author citation to be checked [resolved, +-]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 25 Mar 2008 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that author citation should be changed from "(Douglas) J. Forbes" [to "Douglas ex J. Forbes"] based on Flora North America, TROPICOS, International Plant Names Index (but not PLANTS), even though the protologue (Pinetum Woburnense 125, plate 44. 1839) is not readily available at UCB for verification, and would require a trip to SF Bot Garden library or ILL to have a look. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Abies amabilis Douglas ex J. Forbes, from Abies amabilis (Douglas) J. Forbes previously in this Index, 25 Mar 2008.]
