Texas 7(1): 25, fig. 1, 2A, 3A-B, 4A-G, 5. 2013) in which a new species, Carex cyrtostachya Janeway & Zika, is described as a narrow endemic on the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada in CA, for plants previously referred to Carex mendocinensis, which as a result is considered to occur only in NCo, KR, NCoRO, and CW (exc SCoRI), the "n SNH (Butte, El Dorado cos.)" part of its distribution as given in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] now represented by Carex cyrtostachya Janeway & Zika instead, to which also is added n SNF, for a total distribution involving only three counties, Butte, El Dorado, and Yuba, and possibly fewer than 20 populations and 2000 individual plants in total.
