| Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates that Eriogonum alexanderae has been added to the California Native Plant Society Inventory based on a CAS voucher determined by Reveal, with the following quote from Reveal sent to the California Native Plant Society Forum: "Please note that this plant is now treated as Eriogonum alexanderae (Reveal) Grady & Reveal, Phytotaxa 24: 33. 26 Mai 2011. In that paper is a complete summary of the distribution of the species for Nevada. See: http://www.mapress.com/phytotaxa/con...t00024p038.pdf. I failed to mention the Hardham specimens which is the only California collection. The plant deserves protection in California." Correspondence 2 goes on to indicate that the California Native Plant Society Inventory record is or soon will be: "Eriogonum alexanderae (Reveal) Grady and Reveal//Alexander's buckwheat//Rank 1B.1//Mono//Bodie (470A) 3811921//Great Basin scrub, pinyon and juniper woodland/shale or gravelly; elevation 2895 meters.//Perennial herb, blooms May-July.//Previously on List 2.2 as E. ochrocephalum var. alexanderae ; see this name in The Jepson Manual (1993). Known in California from only between Potato Pk. and Bodie Mtn., where not seen since 1967; field surveys needed. Not in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] 2 and treated as a synonym of E. crosbyae in Flora North America Vol. 5, which does not occur in CA. See Great Basin Naturalist 45:276 (1985) for original description, and Phytologia 66(4):295-321 (1989) and Phytotaxa 24: 33-38 (2011) for taxonomic treatments." According to Correspondence 2, the voucher isn't currently on the Consortium but is included on CNDDB, and, based on the California Native Plant Society record, the bioregion distribution is SNE (Bodie Hills). | |
