Correspondence 1 24 May 2010 e-mail from Beryl Simpson, author of Krameria for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Krameria grayi Rose & Painter is to be treated as a synonym of Krameria bicolor S. Watson: the taxon was originally described in 1852 as Krameria canescens A. Gray, but this name is a later homonym of Krameria canescens Willd. ex Schultes. and therefore illegitimate [see Correspondence 1]; realizing this, Rose & Painter renamed it Krameria grayi Rose & Painter in 1906, basing it on the same type as Krameria canescens A. Gray, but in fact Sereno Watson had beaten them to the punch, having published Krameria bicolor S. Watson for it earlier, in 1886, so that Krameria bicolor S. Watson has priority over Krameria grayi Rose & Painter.
