Correspondence 1 28 Mar 2005 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that a molecular study of the genus Thlaspi sensu lato by Marcus Koch and Ihsan Al-Shehbaz (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] author) in Systematic Botany 29:375--384 (2004) has lead to their conclusion that "the New World taxa of Thlaspi form a monophyletic group that should be assigned to Noccaea and that the North American 'T. montanum' appear to be unrelated to the European plants referred to this species." Correspondence 1 also indicates publication of the new combinations Noccaea fendleri subsp. californica and Noccaea fendleri subsp. glauca for the California taxa treated in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] as Thlaspi californicum (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym Thlaspi montanum var. californicum) and Thlaspi montanum var. montanum, respectively.
