Wetherwax that "Aristida ternipes Cav. var. gentilis (Henrard) Allred is the correct name for what you have in California, which used to be known as A. hamulosa and/or Aristida ternipes var. hamulosa. At the varietal level, the name gentilis has priority". [Therefore, Aristida ternipes var. hamulosa evidently was superfluous to Aristida ternipes Cav. var. gentilis (Henrard) Allred when published and therefore is illegitimate.] | |||||
