Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 | 29 Jan 2002 e-mail from Margriet Wetherwax see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that combinations Kartesz made in Pseudognaphalium were validly published, with reference to the liner notes accompanying the CD Synthesis N. Amer. Fl., version 1 [2]. 1999 [Aug 1999]. [It is notable that although publication of these names by Kartesz is considered both effective and valid in ICBN (2001), it is recommended that this method not be used in the future.]
Correspondence 2 | 8 Apr 2005 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates that Guy Nesom (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Author; G.L. Nesom in Authors of Plant Names), in SIDA 21:781--783 (2004), recognized the four subspecies of Pseudognaphalium canescens occurring in California as separate species and published the new combination Pseudognaphalium thermale (E. E. Nelson) G. L. Nesom to accommodate his taxonomy. Thus, Pseudognaphalium canescens subsp. thermale is to be treated as Pseudognaphalium thermale (E. E. Nelson) G. L. Nesom; Pseudognaphalium canescens subsp. beneolens as Pseudognaphalium beneolens (Davidson) Anderb.; Pseudognaphalium canescens subsp. microcephalum as Pseudognaphalium microcephalum (Nutt.) Anderb.; and Pseudognaphalium canescens subsp. canescens as a synonym of Pseudognaphalium canescens.
