Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments epithet spelled "claryana" in Kartesz & Meacham.
Variant Spelling Ditaxis clariana
Editorial Recommendation spelling of epithet to be checked [resolved]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 $ 8 Feb 2002, from Margriet Wetherwax see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, for reasons unstated, evidently "clariana" is considered by some unspecified person to be an orthographic variant. [The spelling "clariana" was used by Jepson in the protologue, twice, but the species is evidently meant to honor the collector of the type specimen, Marjorie Clary, so the correct spelling is "claryana", corrected from "clariana" originally in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1].]
