| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that Boisduvalia densiflora var. salicina (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym) was published by Munz (= Authors of Plant Names) in Leaflets of Western Botany 3:53 (17 Jul 1941), based on Boisduvalia salicina Rydb. (Bulletin of the Torrey Botanical Club 40(2):62. 1913), and that references to an earlier publication, of Oenothera salicina Nutt. ex Torr. & A. Gray (A Flora of North America 1:505. 1840), as a basionym are invalid because Torrey and Gray treated it as a synonym of Oenothera densiflora. [Therefore, author citation of The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym corrected to Boisduvalia densiflora var. salicina (Rydb.) Munz, from Boisduvalia densiflora var. salicina (Torr. & A. Gray) Munz previously in this Index, 11 Dec 2008.] | |||||
