| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates: that an unfortunate situation exists regarding the proper authorities for Equisetum telmateia var. braunii and Equisetum telmateia subsp. braunii, in that two different authors with almost the same names are involved and many sources confuse the two; that the basionym for both combinations is Equisetum braunii published by Julius Milde (J. Milde in Authors of Plant Names) in Verhandlungen der Kaiserlich-Königlichen Zoologisch-Botanischen Gesellschaft in Wien 12:515 (1862); that Equisetum telmateia var. braunii was published by Carl August Julius Milde (Milde in Authors of Plant Names) in Monographia Equisetorum 246 (1867); that Equisetum telmateia subsp. braunii was published by Richard L. Hauke (Hauke in Authors of Plant Names) in Nova Hedwigia 30:434 (1978). [Therefore, author citation corrected to Equisetum telmateia Ehrh. var. braunii (J.
