Correspondence 1 | 11 Oct 2004 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that Wolffia borealis was published by Elias Landolt (Landolt in Authors of Plant Names) and Otto Wildi (Wildi not in Authors of Plant Names, although in accordance with principles in Authors of Plant Names) in Berichte des Geobotanischen Institutes der Eidg. Techn. Hochschule Stiftung Rübel 44:137 (1977), based Wolffia brasiliensis Wedd. var. borealis Engelm. ex Hegelm. (Die Lemnaceen 127. 1868), and that Dr. Friedrich Hegelmaier (Hegelm. in Authors of Plant Names) ascribed the combination Wolffia brasiliensis var. borealis to "Engelm. Ms." but provided his own diagnosis, in German. [Therefore, author citation expanded, corrected to Wolffia borealis (Engelm. ex Hegelm.) Landolt & Wildi, from Wolffia borealis (Hegelm.) Landolt & O. Wildi previously in this Index, 12 Oct 2004.]
Correspondence 2 | Treatment submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Wayne P. Armstrong, including reference to "Wayne's Word", http see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates that Wolffia borealis (Engelm. ex Hegelm.) Landolt & Wildi is "possibly introduced by migratory waterfowl into southern California (San Diego County)."
