Barkley (Sida 18:387, 1998), the authors (Barkley a The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] author) corrected it to Packera subnuda (Sida 18:635.1999), in adhering to a rule change that went into effect in the interim; the rule, approved in 1999 and explained in Art. 53.6 Note 3 of ICBN (St. Louis Code) 2000, provides for retaining the priority of an epithet of a later homonym when it is transferred to another genus or species, thus giving priority to subnuda when transferred to Packera and making Packera buekii superfluous (Packera buekii was proposed as a new name for this taxon in 1998 because no earlier epithets were available according to the rules in effect at that time; Senecio subnudus DC. was a later homonym and Packera cymbalarioides [the taxon had been treated as Senecio cymbalarioides J.
