Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 20 Aug 2002 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, according to J. K. Morton, Flora North America author of Silene, Silene oregana occurs from Oregon through e California to as far s as the White Mtns [based at least in part on re-annotation of 5 UC/JEPS specimens], and that it intergrades with Silene bernardina, Silene parryi [not indicated for CA], and Silene scouleri near the limits of its range. Thus, the California distribution is to be expanded from Wrn, as in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], to CaRH, n&c SNH, MP, W & I. [Morton's indication that Silene oregana ranges from Oregon to the White Mtns is not consistent with the range outside of California given in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], which is "to WA, MT, WY".]
