Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 $ 11 Apr 2002 e-mail from John L. Strother to Bruce G. Baldwin see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that report in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] and possibly elsewhere of Leucanthemum maximum for California evidently based on misidentification of specimens belonging instead to Leucanthemum lacustre, and that possibly Leucanthemum maximum does not occur outside of cultivation in California.
Correspondence 2 28 Aug 2003 e-mail from Kim Kersh see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that a record has been entered into SMASCH for a specimen (UC1788356, David Keil 30307, Lassen National Forest, Shasta Co., 10 July 2004) that has been determined by John L. Strother [and, probably, by David Keil as well] to belong to Leucanthemum maximum (Raymond) DC. [Although included as naturalized taxon in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], thereafter suspected of not occurring outside of cultivation in CA, but now evidently (re-)determined to be naturalized in CA.]
