Melilotus indicus (L.) All.
FABACEAE
·

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments spelling of epithet uncertain, "indicus" in Kartesz & Meacham; but "indica" in International Plant Names Index-APNI, IPNI-Index Kewensis, and Melilotus otherwise treated as feminine based on other epithets in IPNI
Variant Spelling Melilotus indica
Editorial Recommendation spelling of epithet to be checked [resolved]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 1 Nov 2002 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that The International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (St. Louis Code) 2000 Art. 62.1, Ex. 1 states in part "Melilotus Mill. must be treated as masculine", so that Melilotus indicus is correct. [Therefore, spelling of epithet corrected to "indicus", from "indica" previously in this Index and originally in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], soon after 1 Nov 2002.]
