(1787) as a synonym; that the L'Hér. citation refers to text which was unpublished at the time; and that Geranium palmatum, cited as a synonym, has priority, thus rendering Geranium anemonifolium superfluous and illegitimate when published. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Geranium anemonifolium L'Hér. ex Aiton, from Geranium anemonifolium L'Hér. previously in this Index, 3 Oct 2005] | |||||

| Editorial Comments 4 | There are four records of this taxon in SMASCH, three as Geranium anemonifolium (one in UC/JEPS, UC1787353) representing a single collection, J. P. Rebman, S. Huemmer 6697, 17 May 2000 (Mission Hills, on a north facing canyon in Presidio Park; Escaped) and one as Geranium palmatum, Elizabeth McClintock, 14 Jun 1990 (Golden Gate Park, road above de Laveaga Dell; San Francisco). In the absence of evidence that the taxon represented by these collections has become naturalized, and in view of the fact it has only been collected from +/- urban environments, it is most appropriate to treat this taxon as an urban weed in California at this time. | |||||
