Initial Editorial Comments Fragaria chiloensis X Fragaria virginiana in Kartesz & Meacham
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 19 Aug 2003 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Dan Potter (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Rosaceae family editor) believes there is no doubt that hybridization and introgression occurs between Fragaria virginiana and Fragaria chiloensis, and between Fragaria chiloensis and Fragaria vesca (all of which he hopes to test with molecular markers), but is not sure these should be recognized taxonomically.
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Daniel Potter see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] putative hybrids between Fragaria chiloensis (L.) Mill. and Fragaria virginiana_ [_Fragaria X ananassa_ subsp. _cuneifolia_ (Nutt. ex Howell) Staudt] are spontaneous and do not merit taxonomic status.
