| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates: that Epilobium obcordatum var. laxum (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym) was published in Jepson, A Flora of California 2:566 (1936); that the name is ascribed to "Dempster"; that in a footnote on page 10 of the same volume, Jepson acknowledged the assistance of Mrs. Everett Dempster (Lauramay Dempster) in the preparation of the volume; that ICBN (2006) Art. 46.2 states: "A new combination or a nomen novum must be attributed to the author or authors to whom it was ascribed when, in the publication in which it appears, it is explicitly stated that they contributed in some way to that publication."; that, therefore, Dempster should be cited as the author of the combination; and that the basionym is Epilobium obcordatum forma laxum Hausskn.
