Lott and D. Pendleton (UCR); Ventura Co.: Flood plain of Coyote Creek nr. confluence with Ventura River, Foster Park. Oct. 15, 1969, H.M. Pollard s.n. (DAV): NOTES: Also noted on embankment of Cerrito Cr., spreading beyond lawn of Creekside Park (Contra Costa Co.). Expected elsewhere. Cited in Munz (1974, pg. 379) as Dichondra repens Forst. & Forst.f. which is misapplied in California to D. micrantha, the common cultivated lawn substitute. Dichondra repens has also been misapplied in California to the native Dichondra donnelliana Tharp & Johnston, thus care must be taken, specifically a specimen observed, when applying an epithet to a reported occurrence identified as D. repens. Again, the importance of documenting voucher specimens is clear; in this case the holotype of Dichondra donnelliana was originally determined as D. repens!
Initial Editorial Comments indicated to be of TX, Mexico in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]; in no way mentioned in Munz, Munz Supplement, Munz Southern California Flora indicated for CA, TX, FL in Kartesz & Meacham (Mexico out of coverage); described from Cuba; according to Source c, status uncertain, although plants reportedly naturalized and conditions of cited occurrences evidently qualify for inclusion in the flora according to criteria employed by Jepson Flora Project, (13 Feb 2003)
