| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates: that the "unknown person" cited under Comments was Margriet Wetherwax; that Deschampsia elongata was published in G. Bentham, Plantas Hartwegianas imprimis Mexicanas 342 (1857), wherein Bentham ascribed the new combination to "Munro" (= Authors of Plant Names) and listed as basionym Aira elongata Hook. (Flora Boreali-Americana 2: 243, pl. 228. 1840); that in a footnote on page 341 of Plantas Hartwegianas, Bentham stated that Munro made the determinations for the grasses; that ICBN (2006), Art. 46.2 states in part "A new combination or a nomen novum must be attributed to the author or authors to whom it was ascribed [in this case, Munro] when, in the publication in which it appears, it is explicitly stated that they contributed in some way to that publication."; and that Bentham's footnote is such an explicit statement to Munro's contribution.
