c [for Euphorbia hirta L.] Hrusa et al., Madrono 49(2)61-98. 2002: DIST: SCo: Hrusa et al. Current Status: Naturalized outside of wildlands: DOC: Riverside Co.: Sanders, A.C. (1997a, 203-4): NOTES: Sometimes treated as Chamaesyce hirta (L.) Millsp. Has been intercepted as a weed of nursery stock from the southeastern states, esp. Florida.
Initial Editorial Comments indicated for most of southern tier of states, plus MI and NY, in Kartesz & Meacham; treated as Euphorbia hirta L.; according to Source c, in California naturalized outside of wildlands - conditions of cited occurrences, at least in some cases (e.g., weed of nursery stock), seem not to qualify for inclusion in the flora according to criteria employed by Jepson Flora Project (14 Feb 2003).
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 evidently addresses neither Euphorbia hirta L. nor Chamaesyce hirta (L.) Millsp.. [In the absence of evidence to the contrary, it seems appropriate to treat this as a garden weed, as suggested by Source c.]
