Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K. Koch

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis 29 Jun 2009
Source of Report for California Correspondence 1
Variant Spelling Carya illinoensis; Carya illinoisensis
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Alan T. Whittemore see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 includes, from Flora North America, the following, "J. W. Thieret (1961) pointed out that C . illinoinensis was the spelling Wangenheim used throughout his publication, and there is no valid basis for accepting the deviant spelling " illinoensis " that is so widely used today (E. L. Little Jr. 1979)." [Therefore, spelling of epithet evidently correct as indicated in this Index, 10 Jul 2009.]
Correspondence 2 10 Jul 2009 e-mail from Richard Moe see Comment 2
