| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that Carex brevipes (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym) was put into print by W. Boott in Geological Survey of California, Botany 2:246--247 (1880), but that later in that volume, in "Additions and Corrections" (p. 485), Boott stated of Carex brevipes "Upon farther [sic] examination this proposed species must be taken to be a variety of C. globosa.", thus rendering the name invalidly published according to Art. 34.1 (a), ICBN (2006), which states that a name is not validly published when it is not accepted by the author in the original publication. [Therefore, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym corrected to Carex brevipes W. Boott nom. inval., from Carex brevipes W. Boott previously in this Index, 31 Jan 2008.] | |||||
