Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 24 Jan 2004 Interchange Feedback from Dean Wm Taylor see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Brachypodium sylvaticum should be added to this Index, citing http://groups.ucanr.org/ceppc/Brachypodium_sylvaticum_Alert/ [which indicates "Brachypodium sylvaticum, which is very invasive in Oregon, has been found at the Thornewood Open Space Preserve near Woodside in the Santa Cruz Mountains, along the San Francisquito creek at the Alma Caltrain Station, and at Skyline Boulevard and Highway 84.//Samples of the grass have been confirmed to be Brachypodium sylvaticus by the California Department of Food and Agriculture."]
Correspondence 2 29 Aug 2006 e-mail from Margriet Wetherwax, including forwarded e-mail from Fred Hrusa, comments on his ms dealing with alien species addressed neither in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] nor in Hrusa et al., Madrono 49(2)61-98. 2002 see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that Brachypodium sylvaticum seems to Hrusa to be fully naturalized in CA.
Correspondence 3 14 Sep 2007 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 3
Editorial Comments 3 Correspondence 3 indicates that Brachypodium sylvaticum was published by Palisot de Beauvois (P. Beauv. in Authors of Plant Names) in Essai d'une Nouvelle Agrostographie 101, 155, pl. 3, f. 11 (1812), and that in doing so he transferred Bromus sylvaticus (Huds.) Lyons (Fasciculus Plantarum Circa Cantabrigiam 15. 1763) to Brachypodium, thereby providing an indirect reference to the basionym Festuca sylvatica Huds. (Flora Anglica 1: 38. 1762). [Therefore, author citation corrected to Brachypodium sylvaticum (Huds.) P. Beauv., from Brachypodium sylvaticum (L.) P. Beauv. previously in this Index, 19 Sep 2007.]
