Initial Editorial Analysis 6 Dec 2013
Source of Report for California entry for Astragalus antisellii A. Gray ex W. H. Brewer & S. Watson var. gaviotus (Elmer) Munz & McBurney in this Index
Initial Editorial Comments Astragalus antisellii was published by A. Gray in Brewer & Watson, Geological Survey of California, Botany 1: 152 (1876), for "Dr. Antisell" (Thomas Antisell, 1817-1893, according to Barneby, see following); it was treated (as "A. antiselli A. Gray") as a synonym of Astragalus trichopodus (Nutt.) A. Gray var. phoxus (M. E. Jones) Barneby in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] and (as "Astragalus Antiselli") by Barneby as well, in the protologue of Astragalus trichopodus (Nutt.) A. Gray var. phoxus (M. E. Jones) Barneby). Therefore, author citation corrected to Astragalus antisellii A. Gray, from Astragalus antisellii A. Gray ex W. H. Brewer & S. Watson previously in this Index, and a Current Status of Jepson Flora Project-8 assigned, 6 Dec 2013.
