Arctostaphylos ×media Greene
ERICACEAE
Initial Editorial Analysis 22 Mar 2011
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 18 Mar 2011 e-mail from Richard Moe, including forwarded e-mail from Steven Darington, and 22 Mar 2011 e-mail from Darington see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Arctostaphylos X media Greene "has no entry in the Interchange" despite having been mentioned under Arctostaphylos columbiana in both The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] and The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2], and despite its common occurrence on Humboldt Bay and several records (HSC83544, JEPS38853, UC153958, UC314642, UC483684, UC1225932, UC1225937, UC1225938, UC1225939, UCD51741) in CCH [both according to Darington]. [In The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2], indicated to be presumed hybrid between Arctostaphylos columbiana and Arctostaphylos uva-ursi. From International Plant Names Index-Gray Card Index: According to P. V. Wells, in Madroño 35(4): 335. 1988, this taxon is a hybrid, and its parents may be: Arctostaphylos uva-ursi X Arctostaphylos columbiana; also Arctostaphylos nevadensis X Arctostaphylos columbiana. Therefore, a Current Status of Jepson Flora Project-10 is appropriate at this time, despite the fact the taxon is not treated fully in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2].]
