Jepson Flora Project: Jepson Interchange for California Floristics
Acacia elata A. Cunn. ex Benth.
FABACEAE
Initial Editorial Analysis 2 Mar 2010
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 7 Oct 2005 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Acacia elata was published by George Bentham (Benth. in Authors of Plant Names) in London Journal of Botany 1:383 (1842), wherein he ascribed the name to "Cunn. MSS. non Grah.", referring to Allan Cunningham (A. Cunn. in Authors of Plant Names), and provided his own description. [Therefore, author citation expanded to Acacia elata A. Cunn. ex Benth., from Acacia elata Benth. previously in this Index, 12 Oct 2005.]
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by D. Seigler & John Ebinger see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 does not address Acacia elata A. Cunn. ex Benth., exc to say in a note under the genus that it is cult; the fact it is not treated further suggests that the authors do not consider it to be among the cult spp. that are also said in the note naturalized and spreading in CA, so that a current status of Jepson Flora Project-9 is most appropriate.
