Notes (Field Book): "Flowers yellow. Rays about 16-18 1" long 1/4 as broad 2-thothed at end. Sterile. Disk flowers purple. Stamens yellow. Chaff keeled, the keel pubescent...Stem much branched, pubescent, shrubby. Bad smell. Seen also on the dry hills of Temescal Range"
