Catalog Notes: This species for California is based on the type of Bryum bigelovii Sullivant (1856).
Vouchers: Reported from near Sonora (Tuolumne County) and mapped for the Sierra Nevada in Shaw (1982). However, we have not located a California specimen of this species during our herbarium search in California herbaria.
Literature: Koch 1950a; Lesquereux 1868; Spjut 1971. As Bryum bigelovii Lesquereux and James 1884; Shaw 1982; Sullivant 1856.
