The latitude coordinates are WAY off (putting the site E of Carson City, NV). The most likely site for Benson's collection is, if 5,000 ft is correct, on Pine Mountain Ridge at the summit of SR33, which is the watershed divide for the Santa Clara River (Sespe) and Cuyama River/Santa Maria River watersheds. SR33 (then 399) had recently opened when Benson passed through.
