What's New with SMASCH
What's New at the SMASCH Project May 1996
- The SMASCH WWW query interface is back up with access to the
SMASCH database by Voucher Kind, California County, Taxonomic Name,
or Collector.
- The SMASCH query interface will support access to all text records and/or
images, as well as county distribution maps and taxonomic name browsing
by May 15, 1996.
- SMASCH database structures and data entry software is being prepared for distribution through the World Wide Web. Stay tuned here for updates. SMASCH software, database design documents, implementation scripts, and other documentation will be available by July 31, 1996.
- A prototype loan, exchange, and gift module has been developed
for SMASCH and is ready for evaluation by collection management staff at
the University and Jepson Herbaria.
- Collection label production will be available by July 31, 1996.
- SMASCH has modified data entry procedures (available online soon) to accommodate changes made as a result of the recent NSF site vitit.
- The SMASCH database currently contains text records for 75,000 accessions
(up from 65,000 at the April Update). Our goal is to enter data for a total of
140,000 accessions by March 31, 1997. Data Entry progress will be reported monthly here in What's New at the SMASCH project.
