This demonstration is intended to show how the World Wide Web could be used as an interactive front end to P.C. Silva's compilation of the names of algae, the Index Nominum Algarum and its associated bibliography, once the data (now mostly on three-by-five cards) are computerized.
The pages that make up this demo are stored in a single file generated by running a subset of the already computerized entries through a perl script. In the full-scale system they will be assembled from a relational database and marked up on the fly. (See the Indian Ocean Catalogue for another example.)
