alternation of isomorphic phases, with quadriflagellate zoospores and biflagellate isogametes; unfused gametes recycling gametophytic stage; unfused gametes, zygotes, and zoospores germinating to form a uniseriate filament, which develops into a saccate Enteromorpha–like plant; further development entailing a split in the upper portion to form a monostromatic blade distally (Tatewaki 1972; Dube 1967) Display references
