Fruit: septicidal [loculicidal], mericarps 5, dry, generally 1-seeded, each persistent on 1 of 5 linear segments of beak that separate from central column by curving or coiling upward. Flower: pedicel 28--80 mm; sepals 8--11 mm, smooth, short-awned; petals 10--15 mm, obtuse to +- notched, white to rose, veins lavender to purple, basal adaxial surface soft-hairy; nectaries hair-tufted at top. Fruit: mericarp 4.5--5 mm, smooth, sparsely glandular; beak 21--23 mm, narrow tip 5--6 mm; stigmas 6--8 mm. Seed: faintly pitted.
