Elymus ×gouldii


Elymus ×gouldii J.P. Sm. & Columbus
NATIVE
Stem: 6.5--21 dm, 3.5--5 mm wide at base, generally glabrous. Leaf: ligule 0.5--2 mm; blade generally 6--15 mm wide, glabrous. Inflorescence: 12--40 cm; spikelets 2--6 per node, sessile or short-stalked. Spikelet: glumes > lower floret; lemma glabrous, awn to 2 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=42.
Ecology: Open areas, often saline soils; Elevation: < 1615 m. Bioregional Distribution: ScV, CW, SCo, SnBr, PR; Distribution Outside California: Baja California. Flowering Time: May--Jul Note: A sterile hybrid between Elymus triticoides and Elymus condensatus.
