Cotoneaster frigidus Lindl.
Habit: Shrub, tree, 5--15 m, arching; deciduous. Leaf: blade 55--150 mm, narrowly elliptic, abaxially +- hairy, adaxially dull, tip acute. Flower: 8--13 mm wide; petals spreading, white, generally tufted-hairy; stamens 20, filaments white, anthers purple, styles 2. Fruit: 5--7 mm, 5--7 mm wide, +- spheric, red; stones 2. Chromosomes: 2n=34.
Ecology: N-facing canyon slopes, thickets; Elevation: < 500 m. Bioregional Distribution: SnFrB; Distribution Outside California: native to Himalayan Asia. Flowering Time: May--Jun, fruiting Sep--Oct
