Botrychium yaaxudakeit Stensvold & Farrar
Leaf: sporophore, trophophore joined distal to mid-leaf; trophophore stalk 0--2 mm, blade 1-pinnate, generally 1.5--2.5 cm, 1.3--1.5 cm wide, ovate to oblong, thick, dark green, pinnae touching to overlapping, generally 4--5 pairs, broadly fan-shaped, not midribbed, side margins of basal pinnae converging at 90--160°, outer margins generally entire; sporophore mostly 1-pinnate, deltate, branches spreading, basal branches generally not downturned at maturity, stalk 1--1.5 × trophophore; spores 46--57 µm in longest diam. Chromosomes: 2n=180.
Ecology: Moist alpine meadows; Elevation: 3200 m. Bioregional Distribution: c SNH (Virginia Canyon); Distribution Outside California: northeastern Oregon to Alaska. Note: California plants small, not developing morphology typical of the sp. in northern habitats.
