Botrychium tunux Stensvold & Farrar
Leaf: sporophore, trophophore joined generally proximal to mid-leaf; trophophore stalk 0--3 mm, blade 1-pinnate, generally 0.8--1.5 cm, 0.6--1 cm wide, ovate to oblong, pinnae 2--4 pairs, not overlapping, obovate to round, without sharp angle between side and outer margin, thick, shiny, yellow green, outer margin entire to shallowly cleft, side margins nearly parallel to meeting at an angle of 90° sporophore 1-pinnate, deltate, branches spreading to slightly ascending, proximal branches often downturned, stalk 0.5 to 1 × trophophore; spores 38--42 µm in longest diam. Chromosomes: 2n=90.
Ecology: Well-drained, rocky meadows; Elevation: 3600 m. Bioregional Distribution: c SNH (Mount Hoffman, Mariposa Co.); Distribution Outside California: to Alaska, Colorado, southern Nevada. Note: S United States plants small, not developing morphology typical of sp. in northern habitats.
