Acmispon cytisoides (Benth.) Brouillet
Habit: Perennial herb, glabrous or finely strigose, hairs straight or +- wavy. Stem: mat-forming or low-ascending, not woody, leafy, 1--8 dm. Leaf: irregularly pinnate or palmate, generally green; stipules gland-like; leaflets 3--5, 5--12 mm, elliptic to obovate. Inflorescence: 3--10-flowered, peduncle 2--12(25) mm, bracted or not. Flower: calyx 3.5--6 mm, lobes < tube, narrow, generally spreading or curved outward or hooked, thinly minutely strigose to +- glabrous; corolla 8--10 mm, generally white to +- pink (to brick-red when dry, wings cream), often dark-striate, stigma minutely strigose. Fruit: indehiscent, spreading to upcurved, included (except beak), 7--10 mm, curved, generally not flat, beak generally curved, 2--3 mm. Seed: 1--2. Chromosomes: 2n=14.
Ecology: Coastal dunes, slopes, bluffs; Elevation: < 200 m. Bioregional Distribution: CCo, SnFrB, SCoRO. Flowering Time: Mar--Jul Note: Evidently hybridizes with other species.
