Monardella breweri subsp. lanceolata (A. Gray) A.C. Sanders & Elvin
Stem: 9--65 cm, purple, glandular- or short-hairy distally. Leaf: 15--60 mm, 4--12 mm wide, narrowly lanceolate. Inflorescence: flower cluster 5--25(30) mm wide; bracts 10--15 mm, 8--10 mm wide, acute, cross-veined, outer green or purple-tipped, inner weakly scarious. Flower: calyx generally 6.5--7.5 mm, 13--14-veined; corolla 12--15 mm, purple; stamens exserted.
Ecology: Open, rocky, occasionally disturbed sites; grassy openings in chaparral, oak woodland, conifer forest; Elevation: < 3400 m. Bioregional Distribution: KR, CaRF, s CaRH, SN, s SCoRO, SW; Distribution Outside California: Nevada, northern Baja California. Flowering Time: May--Oct Note: Intergrades extensively with Monardella breweri subsp. breweri in TR and southern SCoRO and with subsp. microcephala in southern PR.
Synonyms: Monardella lanceolata A. Gray; Monardella lanceolata var. sanguinea (Greene) Jeps.
