Monardella eremicola A.C. Sanders & Elvin
Habit: Subshrub, erect. Stem: several to many, 15--55 cm, gray, finely densely glandular-puberulent; glands many, stout, conical. Leaf: +- sessile, 12--27 mm, 3--10 mm wide, narrowly elliptic, acute to obtuse, sparsely puberulent, pale +- gray. Inflorescence: flower clusters (1)3--several per main stem, 7--20 mm wide; bracts 4.5--9 mm, 2--4.5 mm wide, +- = calyx. Flower: calyx 5--7 mm, puberulent, spreading gland-tipped hairs 0; corolla 8--11 mm, white with purple markings, appearing lavender.
Ecology: Limestone (occasionally granite) outcrops in pinyon/juniper woodland, canyons, slopes, wash margins; Elevation: 1500--2100 m. Bioregional Distribution: ne DMtns (Clark Mtn Range, New York Mtns, Kingston Range). Flowering Time: Jun--Aug Note: Intergrades extensively with Monardella linoides subsp. sierrae, Monardella odoratissima subsp. glauca in northern DMtns.
