Chylismia claviformis subsp. aurantiaca (Munz) W.L. Wagner & Hoch
Habit: Plant strigose (glandular-hairy distally). Leaf: terminal leaflet < 30 mm, narrowly ovate; lateral leaflets well developed, like terminal. Flower: hypanthium 3--5 mm; sepal tips not free in bud (inconspicuously so); petals 2.5--8 mm, white generally fading purple, bases rarely purple-dotted.
Ecology: Sandy flats, washes, creosote-bush scrub; Elevation: -70--900 m. Bioregional Distribution: D; Distribution Outside California: southern Nevada, western Arizona, northern Baja California. Flowering Time: Feb--May Note: Intergrades extensively with Chylismia claviformis subsp. peirsonii, Chylismia claviformis subsp. yumae, and those with white petals; occasionally hybridizes with Chylismia brevipes, Chylismia munzii.
